High Point, N.C. – June 16, 2015 – Today Thomas Built Buses (TBB) announced that it has finalized the installation of new equipment and infrastructure as part of its recently announced expansion. Additionally, the company has made significant strides in increasing workforce. This will increase TBB’s production capabilities of the Saf-T-Liner® C2 by more than 25 percent.

This $12M expansion was necessary to meet increasing customer demand for the industry leading Saf-T-Liner C2.  The expansion resulted in the hiring of more than 200 new employees, investments in new technologies, and streamlined manufacturing processes.

Completing this expansion and increasing the production capacity for its flagship production facility was a top priority for Caley Edgerly, who took over as president and CEO March 1, 2015. Edgerly served as Vice President of Operations for TBB prior to taking over as president and CEO.

“For TBB, this investment was necessary to meet increasing demand for the popular Saf-T-Liner® C2 bus,” said Caley Edgerly, president and CEO of Thomas Built Buses. “The investment of approximately $12M proves our dedication and commitment to the community along with our commitment to producing the industry’s best bus.”

The expansion was made possible by generous economic development grants from the City of High Point, $188,000; City of Archdale, $20,000; Guilford County, $118,000 and Randolph County, $45,000. Their contributions reinforce the community’s commitment for local economic development and its unwavering support of Thomas Built Buses.

“For nearly 100 years, High Point has been our home; the community is engrained in the culture of who we are as a company,” said Edgerly. “We look forward to the next 100 years and a strong on-going partnership with the High Point community.”
