Special Needs Seating Just Got a Whole Lot Easier

Thomas Built Buses debuted the revolutionary Saf-T-Anchor Removable Seat (S.T.A.R.S.) mounting system for special-needs buses a couple of years ago for fleet managers who struggle with seat reconfigurations. Installing and uninstalling seats was a cumbersome task that took too long and required precise measurement and special tools.

Since its introduction, the S.T.A.R.S system has seen a quick adoption. Nearly 90% of new Thomas Built lift buses in Indiana now are utilizing the S.T.A.R.S. system and are seeing remarkable success with it.

What is S.T.A.R.S. and what makes it so different?

The S.T.A.R.S. mounting system is a proprietary seating system unique to Thomas Built Buses that allows passenger seats to be removed easily and reinstalled quickly, within a few minutes.

Unlike track seating, this unique system uses wall-mounted seats with the feet secured to the floor by specially-designed anchors.

No special hardware or complicated measuring is required. The seats will only go back in the location as designed and installed by the factory, so there is no guesswork during reinstallation.

This allows easy configuration and reconfiguration of buses, based on the number of special-needs students.

Even better, the S.T.A.R.S. mounting system is more cost effective than track seating since there is no need to purchase continuous track and no upcharge for the track-mounted seat frame. Schools across the country are loving the new configuration. The new seating configuration also helps schools like Hamilton Southeastern Schools keep their floors clean and clear and helps fight corrosion.

You’ll want to see this revolutionary seating system for yourself. To learn more, contact your local dealer or watch S.T.A.R.S. in action here.
