Today’s students are increasingly interested in electric vehicles and environmentally smart transportation options. This dynamic, professionally designed curriculum provides teachers with tools and lessons to increase awareness of electric vehicles (EVs) and electric school buses by bringing students into the conversation.

Classroom-ready Content

Casey Harris, an EV business analyst for Thomas Built Buses created the curriculum to offer a comprehensive educational approach. As a former teacher, principal and superintendent, Harris based the curriculum on achieving core learning objectives through the exploring and understanding of the electric school bus.

This innovative tool gives teachers a resource to help students engage with the emerging topic of electric vehicles while increasing education and awareness of electric school buses. The curriculum is built to meet North Carolina’s 8th-grade standards but is easily adaptable to different state or grade standards.

The curriculum covers diverse subjects including math, science, social studies, language arts, writing and literacy standards, while fostering a broad spectrum of inter-curricular connections. Examples of activities include a Think-Pair-Share, Problem/Solution Jigsaw Activity and a project that tasks students with determining the cost-benefit analysis of purchasing an electric school bus.
