At Thomas Built Buses, we are now offering the WABCO OnGuardACTIVETM collision mitigation system as a factory-installed option for our Saf-T-Liner® C2 school bus. Built with radar-based anti-collision technology, this safety system enables collision warning, active braking and adaptive cruise control.
Some of the benefits of the OnGuardACTIVE system include:
- Collision Mitigation
OnGuardACTIVE uses long-range radar technology to detect objects up to 650 feet in front of the school bus. In addition, this collision mitigation system provides audible, haptic and visual warnings to alert drivers of possible obstructions.
- Active Braking
Designed to detect and mitigate potential rear-end collisions, this feature engages active braking to automatically throttle down school bus engines in dangerous situations. If necessary, OnGuardACTIVE will also apply foundation brakes to help avoid impending collisions.
- Adaptive Cruise Control
OnGuardACTIVE uses radar technology to assist drivers in maintaining a safe following distance. With adaptive cruise control, the system maintains a selected speed when the lane ahead is clear and automatically adjusts this speed when vehicles appear ahead.
Beyond state-of-the-art safety features, OnGuardACTIVE technology also integrates with telematics and monitoring systems. This makes it easy for fleet managers to monitor driver performance if necessary.
After software installation, we provide all fleet managers and drivers with specialized training on OnGuardACTIVE capabilities.
